news around the web

Got a news update from Belgium web design studio, Group 94 this morning, announcing an update to their temporary homepage,

group 94

This is the second incarnation of their temporary homepage, with the same format of a video narration by their project manager Tamara Schauvliege. And as she talks about their new work, links appear over the screen - and if you click on it, a new window pops up with that site, and at the same time stopping Group 94’s video - and when you return to it, you’ll find a button that says, ‘resume’ for you to continue watching the announcement.

Group 94 is one of those rare design studios that have so much command of Flash but never abuse that power with gratuitous animation. Their design (interface and interaction) is fluid, light and smooth. Take it look for yourself: their old portfolio website, and one of their latest work, a site for photographer Jeff Wall’s exhibit at MoMA.
